Texas Holdem No-Limit WSOP 2005

- $10,000 Main Event: Hachem makes history

Action:

At the final table of the 2005 WSOP Main Event it was down to heads-up play, the blinds were at $150,000-$300,000 with a $50,000 ante after an amazing 14 hours of play. On the final hand Steve Dannenmann made it $700,000 to go with A - 3. Hachem called with 7 -4 and the flop came 4-5 -6. Hachem checked his straight to Dannenmann who fired $700,000 into the pot. Hachem then raised to $1,700,000 and Dannenmann called. The turn was the A. Now it was Hachem’s turn to fire and he bet $2,000,000 into Dannenmann, who quickly raised it to $5,000,000. Hachem thought for a while and then declared that he was going all-in, Dannenmann quickly called. Dannenmann turned over his A-3 but Hachem then turned up his 7-3 (one of the worst starting hands in Texas Hold’em) showing that he had tha straight. The only card that could save Dannenmann on the river was one of the three remaining sevens in the deck for a split pot. On the river the 4 fell and with that Hachem became what all poker players dream of, the World Champion of Poker.

Farha had the J -T and raised to $100,000 from the small blind and Moneymaker called with t 5 -4 . The flop was J -5 -4 , giving Moneymaker bottom two-pair and Farha top pair. Moneymaker checked and Farha bet $175,000. Moneymaker check-raised $275,000 and Farha moved all-in. Moneymaker called. The two-pair turned into a full house on the river winning Moneymaker the WSOP Main Event title and the $2,500,000 first prize.
